This journal provides an essential up-to-date source of information on the state of the British economy. It is published twice yearly and is designed to fulfil three main needs. First, it provides a valuable source of applied articles for students of economics and business at Advanced level and beyond. The articles apply economic principles to a wide range of relevant issues, and introduce important applied material to complement standard Advanced level and first-year undergraduate textbooks. Secondly, it keeps teachers and lecturers abreast of new thinking within economics as well as providing useful source materials for studying the UK's economy and business in a global setting. Finally, the material is invaluable for the general reader who needs an accessible insight into the complexities of Britain's economy and business.

The contributors are all experienced writers in the areas of Economics and Business Studies and choose their own approach to each topic. The blend of analysis and vital factual information will vary from section to section, but the overall aim is to provide a critical understanding of a wide range of contemporary developments.

The British Economy Survey has been a vital source of information and analysis for students, teachers and informed citizens for over 30 years. To extend the scope and usefulness of the journal, an electronic version is also available for installation on school/college intranets. This contains the full text of journals since Spring 1993, a program providing full text search, copy and paste facilities, and an accompanying statistical database containing information on trends in key economic indicators.
